Astrology and Karma

Astrology is the prophecy of our karma – Part 3.

Your birth chart tells you exactly what positive karma, in the form of talents, attainments and blessings, and what negative karma, in the form of challenges and obstacles, you are bringing with you from your past lives.

In one sense of the word, your birth chart is not a predestination; in another sense it is. It is a record of what you have written, for better or for worse, on your book of life. When Omar Khayyám wrote the following verse, he wrote of the indelible recording of our karma by the Moving Finger of free will, as I would interpret it:

The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all your Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all your Tears wash out a Word of it.

But you must not look at your astrological chart with the sense that it is signed, sealed and delivered and that there is nothing you can do about it. There is everything you can do about it! Because the handwriting on the wall is your handwriting! And what Omar Khayyám didn’t know is that because it is yours you can erase it, by the grace of God.

Consider the principle of the mist and the crystal. The mist is the unformed, the uncongealed. It is the energy of returning karma not yet clothed with physical form. Before it crystallizes, the mist can be read and known as a record of nonresolution whose time for resolution has not yet run out. When it does run out we say the mist has become the crystal—the sands have fallen in the hourglass.

Therefore, time and space grant us the option to balance karma before that karma falls due—to pay off the mortgage, so to speak, before “the bill collector”takes our farm, our business or our house. And that’s precisely what being in embodiment on planet earth is all about!

We have a window of opportunity to undo the unrighteous deeds we have done and to do righteous deeds in their place—and to implore the merciful intercession of the Almighty—before the karma becomes an indelible record on our book of life and we are judged for our words and our works
