Through the process of reincarnation on earth, we were destined to experience spiritual growth - to grow in spiritual mastery as we nurtured our divine gifts and developed our talents.
In the beginning, our souls were endowed with a unique and precious gift that was meant to be shared with humanity during our incarnations. It was told, that without this gift, the full flowering of our families, communities, and even our civilization could not take place.
God gave us free will so that we could lovingly respond to our calling to be co-creators of the Divine. Some of us, volunteered to incarnate on earth, as angels in disguise, to save those who had come before, forgetting that they too had a divine plan and mission. We knew that when we had fulfilled our reason for being, we would joyfully return to the realms of Spirit to continue our soul adventure.
Our souls began the journey full of hope. We understood the true nature of our destiny. We knew that, above all else, we were spiritual beings assigned a mission to shepherd spiritual consciousness on earth. Sometime during this journey, we left the path. We "fell" out of higher consciousness when the allure of the outer, human self and its entanglements, led our attention away from our innate divine Self. We became self-centered instead of Self-centered, and slowly we forgot our reason for our journey on earth.
The rest is history. Centered in our human ego rather than in our heart and Higher Self, we were encouraged to act in ways that did not always honor our inner mind. We did many good things, but also created negativity. Out of a misguided need to protect our lesser self, we hurt others rather than help them. Then, because of the law of the circle, we were not free to move forward until we paid off our karmic debts that we owed to others.
The reason of existence for the soul is not only the fulfillment of the original divine plan but also to put our karmic ledger account in order. Our soul, searching for solutions, is compelled to once again seek those karmic encounters, life after life, until we find the solution.
Earth can therefore be compared to a classroom. We return again and again to learn our lessons. Sometimes we learn from wise teachers, but in many cases our main teacher is our karma - the positive and negative consequences of our free choices. When we learn all the lessons, complete all our assignments, and prove our self-mastery, we will graduate from the earthly classroom and continue our soul journey into other realms as masterful spiritual beings.
Often today, wealth and physical ease are considered benchmarks of success. When we consider life from a spiritual perspective, we see that our priority is not material success, although it is a legitimate means of fulfilling the purpose of life. Instead, we see that God's priority is for us to get back in alignment with our original blueprint - replacing the human matrix, the misguided patterns of the human ego, with our divine matrix.
When we recognize why we are here and how we have arrived at this point, the paradoxes of life become increasingly important - and more manageable. When we view our lives as a continuity, and not as isolated segments in time, our perspective changes. When we behold each day as part of a larger creation plan for the soul, our daily choices take on new meaning.
