What will it profit a person if by using alchemy he gains the whole world and loses his soul? We ask students to understand that gaining control over the soul (over the energies that form one's identity pattern) is one of the most essential functions of alchemy and that this control is gained through surrender and humility. When Christ rode into the Holy City on "a donkey's colt," as we mentioned in our previous chapter, his appearance was one of utter humility and yet he was crowned by God and man with the highest honor. And so it is essential that we develop in students the same Christ-like qualities that make of them pillars in the temple of God that cannot be moved by human emotions, regardless of their guise: criticism, condemnation, judgment, self-pity, gossip, betrayal, tyranny or human deceit. The alchemist must be insensitive to all human behavior but not oblivious to worldly thoughts to the point of being a fool. For him the fulfillment of the fiat is, "Be as wise as serpents and as innocent as doves!
What alchemy can mean for a world in decline to the order of the day.But we are concerned with the essence of the mission, and the mission is freedom for all. If we would want freedom to become the joy of all, then we must give freedom to all because no one can then exclude us from freedom. It is therefore to the passions of freedom to which our experiments in alchemy must be devoted. We must gain emotional control; for when God said, "Take dominion over the earth!" He meant individual dominion over one's own energies, one's own consciousness and one's own four lower bodies.Collective dominion is brought about when the cooperating mind of the group, nation and planet - recognizing all that it has received from Life - joyfully offers itself and all that it has received to the great Spirit of Life. At that moment, the individual man and man as the collective group, contemplates the enrichment of the True Self and the true mystical identity of the group through increase of individual talents. When these gifts of God are multiplied, they are like stars in the firmament of existence, shining in the grand design of universal destiny. When man becomes one with God, he realizes that he is truly God. This is not blasphemy but the fruit of total surrender. The returned gift of the identity of Life itself, as God gives himself to his son, is far greater than the symbolic sacrifice of mortality left on the altar by the beloved son.
Nevertheless, it is typical of the Deity to be the great giver and thus to precipitate the highest alchemical manifestation, the spectrum of Christ Consciousness. This must and will always be the reward for the renunciation of human error and the full realization of divine life in every human being. All nature then vibrates in the cup of the Christ-spirit. The heart of Christ is brimming with creative essence pouring out the unifying experience that identifies him with life, with the alchemist and the alchemist with him. Who can create evil and destruction in all my holy mountain? Who can support all of God's holy mountain? Therefore every atom and every electron hastens to God!'And a cloud received him to beyond their sight ... People of Galilee, why are you staring at the sky? The same Jesus who was taken from you in heaven will come in the same way as you have seen him go to heaven.'The Second Coming of Christ is preceded by the fulfillment of the prophecy, 'One will be taken and the other left behind.' For when one is taken away and the other left behind, it indicates that the world is still in wickedness and that only a few have accepted the kingdom. But when the Second Coming of Christ comes to the accelerated world, it will be so because the nature of the divine is understood as an inestimable gift of freedom for every human being.
When this miracle of Christ love is produced in the world, it is because the alchemy students - whether known by this name or any other name, either ecclesiastical or not ecclesiastical and in fact incarnate or not incarnate, - universally express the radiance of the Christ concept. Imbued with the fires of the Holy Spirit, their thinking becomes a cosmic reactor and a central conflagration of universal ideas for freedom and for breaking the chains of captivity forged by a recalcitrant humanity. We now reveal in this eighth lesson what alchemy can mean for a world in decay, what it can mean for slaves in captivity of the senses and what it can mean for the self surrounded by confusion and chaos when it becomes an ordered and purposeful display of universal grace through the force field of man's individual identity. Do you see now why El Morya, Mother Mary and all the ascended masters freely offer their energies for the good of humanity? Do you see why the creative cloud evoked by us, literally an individualized cloud of testimony by day and a pillar of fire by night, enables man to understand that the crucible of identity, which could initially be nothing more than an experimental test tube, can become a radiant altar of reality?
