Here are some wonderful passages from the book "Alchemy of the Heart. This time the profound lessons for the soul are about "The Secret Room" and "A Spark of the Divine.
Hidden in the heart of all
beings, resides the Atman, the
Spirit, the Self; smaller than
the smallest atom, larger
than the vast spaces.-KATHA UPANISHAD
Your Higher Self knows everything. He can teach you, give you reliable directions, and warn you of danger, if you take the time to tune into that voice. Once you recognize this masterful presence within, you can retreat to your secret room at crucial times of your day and communicate with Him. You can say: 'O Beloved, I am so grateful for your guidance, enlightenment and love. Please teach me. Give direction to my life and show me the next steps to take.'
You can go into your heart, connect with your Higher Self, and ask specific questions that you seek answers to, such as what action to take now or how to resolve a situation that is occurring now. The next step is one of the most important: listen. The answer may not come immediately, but it comes at the right time.
The mystics have revealed that a "divine spark" burns in the secret chamber of the heart - a sacred flame with which God has endowed us, a spark of fire from God's own heart. In essence, the divine spark is a piece of God right in the middle of you. She is pure Spirit. She is your point of contact with your Source. We may think we walk around on earth as human beings, but in fact we are divine beings with a divine connection.
Those who are connected to this divine spark describe her as a holy fire and also as a seed of the Divine. Saint Catherine of Siena said in one of her prayers, "In your nature, eternal Divinity, I will come to know my nature. And what is my nature ...? It is fire, because you are nothing but a fire of love. ... You who are fire, share fire with (the soul).'
In some traditions, this spark is called a "triple" flame because it evokes the primary attributes of Spirit - strength, wisdom and love, in accordance with the Trinity. We draw from this inner flame every time we act from the loving, spiritual part of ourselves. It is the fire, the inspiration, the creative spark that permeates our finest thoughts and feelings, words and actions. This flame is spiritual power - the power to change our lives and ultimately to change the world.
Your divine spark is the same universal light that burns in the hearts of the saints, adepts and ascended masters of the East and West. The only difference between their flame and our flame is its size and intensity. The more intense the flame, the greater the bestowal of light. The greater the light, the more power we have to become living transformers of love.
Like the great revolutionaries of Spirit, we can increase the size and intensity of our spiritual flame and our empowerment of love. The mystics have given us various formulas to expand that light. Their formulas include the development of heart, head and hand, for we do not expand the flame only through meditation and prayer. We also expand it through the practical application of our hearts - the actions we perform daily to meet others' needs.
