God has given us many gifts. He has given us a part of Himself, the threefold flame, and sealed it within our hearts. He has given us parents or guardians to take care of us. He has given us angels to watch over us. And He has given us the gift of free will, which allows us to choose how we want to live our lives and to determine who we will become. Every good gift and every perfect gift comes from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no mutability, nor shadow of change. (James 1: 17)]
In addition to the material gifts God provides for us, he also gives us spiritual gifts. God as the Holy Spirit is ready to give us spiritual gifts when we are ready to receive them. One way to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit is through the sacraments. The gifts of the Holy Spirit gradually increase within you as you become closer to God, closer to the Holy Spirit, closer to Jesus and Gautama and all the ascended masters. As the light increases throughout your body, the gifts grow like flowers. When you truly have the Holy Spirit within you, it indicates that you have achieved oneness with your Divine Self.
There are nine gifts of the Holy Spirit. These are: the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, faith, the gifts of healing, the working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, various kinds of tongues and the interpretation of tongues. The nine gifts of the Holy Spirit are like potted plants. If we water them and take care of them, they will grow. Likewise, if we increase the light in our body temples and in our chakras through meditation, prayer and good works, the gifts of the Spirit can grow within us.
Even large trees begin as small plants. Finally, plants become mature trees, and some trees will bear fruit. We are like fruit-bearing trees, and people will know what kind of "trees" we are by our "fruits." This is a mystery of the Holy Spirit.
