The human will

THE HUMAN WILL assumes that he has certain knowledge which in reality he does not have. He bases most of his choices on human history and the perceptions of those whose own quality of perception is centered primarily around the physical and rarely engages with the celestial. The human will identifies with the ego and tries to support it in its pursuit of transient goals.

The Will of God assures man that he will survive, for it is the Will of God that those he created would inherit his kingdom - but one must play by the rules of the game, for the Will of God is implacable in its demands of perfection. Humans, cast into the role of imperfection, have been willing to deny the possibility that they could achieve that degree of perfection that comes about through God-realization.

Short-sighted

It is as easy to serve the Will of God - in fact, it is even easier - than it is to serve man's corrupting will, with its varying standards. I would then argue that most people have absolutely no understanding of what the Will of God is. Therefore, they also do not know what they are resisting. The human will opposes the Divine Will because its goals are shortsighted. People find it difficult to extend their thoughts beyond their daily lives. They tend to accept death as the end. It may interest them to know that from the standpoint of Spirit, man's birth is seen as his death.

Higher values

There is a reason why manifestations in the lower octaves are delayed. It is to give people the opportunity to devote themselves to higher values and avoid the mistakes that come with haste. Being within a frame of natural laws has provided a safety valve against the accidental destruction of the entire civilization. Would it not be wise then for man, caught in a net of illusion, to examine the purposes of God, to know them, to understand them, and to serve these mighty purposes in order to accelerate in his own personal evolution the Divine plan and advance the heavenly architecture for all mankind?

The problem of the "absolutes" is always present - the absolute Evil and the absolute Good. These states are so far removed from the average person that their interest lies not in the absolute but in the relative. Understanding moral values, which are valid because they are based on truth, will help people understand that their progress must come from their present situation and move forward from there.

Law of the circle

The law of the circle takes its full toll: what a person does to another will happen to him himself. The way to success, to prosperity and happiness, is to give happiness to others. Nurture the Spirit of truth. Give opportunity for honest analysis of the situation.

The Will of God who has already engraved His wisdom and hope in your heart will enable you to find a reasonable yardstick to hold to. But when men consider their own yardstick to be above the stars, they will groan and groan and groan, dance around as in an animal cult, letting their energies drain away into vanity. It is important for us that the Will of God come more fully into manifestation in the world of men.

No criticism and condemnation

People must realize that some have higher standards than others and that some can achieve higher goals. Life is not meant to be filled with criticism and condemnation, but it is an opportunity to defeat the human ego, which must ultimately reflect God if it is to endure. That is the true purpose of man's existence: to reflect God and then identify with the Real Image reflected within.

People would understand that the Will of God is the universal remedy for world order as well as for individual human beings. From time to time, the Brotherhood releases encouraging ideas - sometimes simple, sometimes complex - into the minds of students. These ideas are not always assimilated immediately.

Therefore, these teachings on the Will of God are given to recreate in consciousness certain engrams* that will enable you to effectively and with your own consent bring about your deliverance from the carnal mind and replace it with the resilient upward effect of the Spirit of God.
