Love is a creative force and power

We continue our series of quotes and passages from the book "Alchemy of the Heart.  This is the second series of ten monthly posts on the Heart. Be inspired by these wonderful words of wisdom!

The language of the heart may be poetic, but the actions of the heart are extremely practical. When you love, what to do and let go of is as clear as day. You think to yourself, "I love, so I can no longer carry this anger, pride, selfishness or jealousy with me. I am love, so I cannot continue to hold on to this resentment or bitterness that drains my creative energy. I am love, so I cannot allow the condition I am in now to keep me from doing the things I need to do.'

What are you willing to do and change, to be love-in-action?

Scott Peck writes: Someone who genuinely loves will often do something in a loving and constructive way for people he or she consciously dislikes, even though he or she feels no love for that person at the time and even dislikes them in some way.

You don't have to travel far to find someone who needs your love. In fact, there is usually someone on your own doorstep (or in your home) begging you to open your heart a little further.

Lesia Stockall Cartelli advises: Whatever your fears are, embrace them. When you face your fear head-on, it dissolves.

When we open our hearts, when we declare that nothing will stand in the way of our expression of love, both inner and outer forces will come to our aid in response to our invocation. As long as the motive of our heart is pure, and what we ask for is in accordance with the divine plan, God will send us invisible auxiliaries to assist us in our work of love.

Another secret to mastery of the heart: when we give, we match our gifts (the gifts of our talents, our actions and our resources) not to what we think we can muster, but to the magnitude of the need.

Usually our acts of love do not get us into the newspaper. Nevertheless, it is the little things we do, one by one, that add up to make a dramatic difference in someone's life. In the words of Mother Teresa, "We do not do great things; only small things, with much love.

Of course, giving to others does not mean suppressing our own needs. Love is sacrifice, but it is not simultaneously destroying yourself. You cannot divide yourself into a thousand pieces and still have something substantial left to give to others.

Love is a creative force and power. The moment you realize that you are a co-creator with God, your life changes. You begin to realize, "This is a gigantic responsibility. What am I going to do with my power to create?
